The 5-Step Perming Process
Creating the perfect wave requires precise chemical timing and expert rod placement to ensure a natural, beautiful flow.
Step 1: Curl Pattern Consultation
Do you want tight ringlets, a loose body wave, or a modern Korean 'S-curl'? We discuss your desired look and select the exact rod sizes needed to achieve it.
Step 2: Hair Cleansing & Wrapping
The hair is washed with a clarifying shampoo to open the cuticle. It is then meticulously sectioned and wrapped around perm rods, establishing the shape of your new curls.
Step 3: Waving Lotion Application
A gentle chemical waving lotion is applied. This safely breaks down the natural straight disulfide bonds in the hair, allowing it to mold to the shape of the rods.
Step 4: Processing & Neutralizing
After processing (often using gentle heat for Digital Perms), the hair is rinsed. A neutralizer is then applied to permanently 'lock' the new curly bonds into place.
Step 5: Hydration & Diffusing
The rods are removed to reveal beautiful curls! The hair is deeply conditioned and styled using a diffuser to showcase your bouncy, voluminous new texture.

Unsure about the difference between digital and cold perms? Review our expert answers below.
A Cold Perm is the traditional method, creating curls that are tighter when wet and looser when dry, perfect for root volume. A Korean Digital Perm uses heated rods to restructure the hair. Digital perms create prominent, large, soft waves that look like you just used a curling iron when the hair is dry.
If your hair has a simple, dark color tint, it is usually safe. However, if your hair is heavily bleached or highlighted, we generally do NOT recommend perming, as overlapping these chemicals can cause severe breakage. We will perform a strand test during your consultation.
A professional perm typically lasts between 3 to 6 months, depending on your hair length, the tightness of the rod used, and how fast your hair grows. It will slowly soften into a beautiful, loose wave over time.
You must switch to a sulfate-free shampoo and use a dedicated curl cream. After washing, gently scrunch the product into damp hair and either let it air dry or use a diffuser attachment on a low heat setting. Never aggressively brush dry curls!
