Acrylic is a highly durable mixture of liquid monomer and powder polymer, perfect for extreme lengths and heavy lifting. Hard Gel is sculpted using a thick, honey-like gel cured under a lamp; it is more flexible and has no odor. Gel-X uses pre-shaped, full-cover tips made entirely of soft gel that adhere seamlessly to the natural nail for a flawless, lightweight finish.
The extensions themselves do not cause damage. Damage occurs from improper application (over-filing the natural nail) or improper removal (biting or ripping the extensions off). When applied and professionally soaked or filed off at Aagas Shine, your natural nails remain healthy.
Extensions typically last 3 to 4 weeks. After this time, your natural nail grows out, creating a gap at the cuticle and shifting the 'apex' (strength point) of the extension forward. You must return to the salon for an 'infill' to rebalance the nail and prevent breakage.
Yes! In fact, extensions are often the best way to help you stop biting. We can apply short, natural-looking extensions over bitten nails. The hard material prevents you from biting, allowing your natural nails to grow safely underneath.
Our technicians will help you decide based on your natural nail bed and finger length. Almond and Oval shapes elongate shorter, wider fingers. Coffin and Stiletto are glamorous and modern but require longer lengths. Square is a sharp, classic look.
